Concert
This year is a bit more special than any other year in Canada’s most commemorative feast when it comes to honouring our own sound of music! Slacker Canadian Music Week is celebrating its 30th year and we all know what that means…hitting this milestone full throttle! Toronto hosts the 5-night event, and the city will be buzzing with musical talent! We can all expect a great week in T.O!
Not only has the CMW earned its stripes in North America when it comes to entertainment, anyone attending any of the events planned out for the week will indulge in everything music and then some! This is the primary focus when it comes the music and all of its business. The city will be consumed by countless live events that will open up your knowledge of the musical artistry that this country owns, all while adding so much more. Aside from the performances, and over 800 bands doing what they do best at 60 live music venues (all downtown) along with the New Music Festival, you will also be able to attend conferences, trade exhibitions, award shows, a film festival and even a Canadian International Comedy Fest. Sounds busy huh? This is the music lover’s aphrodisiac, and what better way to witness the legends of music writing, legends of radio, Hall of Fame inductees and much more? Seriously, this week will be full of great gigs!
If you haven’t checked out the CMW then you owe it to yourself to check it out this year! This is where music matters, and so much more. There is so much more than just spectating the event! Get involved, reach the conventions, and meet the masterminds behind the business of Canadian music! This is the right city to host it, so take advantage of it!

I can’t even lie when I say that I was pretty damn excited to see Chris Brown put on a great show and courtesy of my lady friend, I got the chance to check out Breezy’s F.A.M.E Tour as it stopped here in our city, and basically blew the semi-roof right off the Molson Amphitheatre. I knew to expect a lot of girls, but the piercing sound of cheers and cries for the Hip Hop star were crazy, but still a warm welcome to the city of Toronto.
Thousands of fans filled the Amphitheatre, and not only for a great show courtesy of CB, but for three pretty good openers; Tyga, Kelly Rowland and T-Pain. Now, remember I mentioned the thousands of screaming girls, that were there, and with that amount of ladies, of course they have to use the bathroom too right. So, since my lady friend needed to use the bathroom, and the line-up was as long as the CN Tower, I unfortunately missed Tyga’s performance. However, I can tell by the cheering fans, and his great selection of singles to sing, he put on a good show too!

Ms. Kelly Rowland though…man-oh-man! We’ve all seen the re-vamped Kelly, and she demonstrated that in full stride, from the moment she stepped onto that stage. She looked amazing from head-to-toe, and did her thing loud and proud. She sounds just as good as good live, and with the help of her backup dancers and some ladders and lights, Ms. Rowland definitely had us all feeling that Motivation! Trust me…she really did! Also, not only did we get to see the rebirth of this hip-hop princess, she took us all way back to the Destiny’s Child days with a wicked montage of all their number one hits! Good job Kelly, hopefully you felt the love from T.O!
T-Pain was next in line before Breezy stormed the stage, and what else would you expect from T-Pain, than lights, dancing and party rockin! His performance was really live, and not only were the fans digging it but I actually did too! I’m not a huge fan of all of his music but he did what he does best, and that’s get every single body moving and fist pumping! (yeah I’m not lying, people were fist pumping!) What was pretty cool too was his montage of chart-topping hits from various artists, including LMFAO! Everyday….I’m shuffling!! T-Pain did his part, crowd seemed to love it!
Finally, it was time for the superstar to come out! The one everybody came out to see. Slowly every little girl raised their Bristol board signs that read: “I love you Chris”, “Marry me CB”, and my favourite one; “CALL ME”, of course fully equipped with her digits. Literally…I’m shaking my head! lol. My guess is that some weirdo from the crowd will get that number, and Brown will be well on his way down the 401, onto the next one! It was pretty funny though, a and I thought I seen it all at the Usher concert, but there are some girls out there that will stop at nothing! Amusing to say the least! CB did everything I expected and more! He killed that stage with his amazing dance moves and sang live every step of the way. From chart-topping singles like one of my favourites: Deuces, to my favourite track off his latest album F.A.M.E: Beautiful People. Brown was all over that stage, and even invited a lucky lady from the crowd to come and accompany him. Thousands were jealous, and I’m sure she ran for her ride ASAP! With a wicked set, sweet lighting, Chris Brown did what he did best: ENTERTAIN! Great show from CB, and after six long years, Toronto couldn’t expect anything less! Great job to the Breezy himself, T.O Loved it! If you haven’t grabbed his latest album than you definitely should do so!
(Sound quality in the videos ain’t the greatest since they are off my phone!)
Can’t wait for the next one!
